Two arrested for tax evasion
Police Tuesday detained two people on charges of large-scale tax evasion.
Officers in the city of Kalamata, in the Peloponnese, arrested the 64-year-old owner of a cosmetics trading firm for withholding 268,000 euros in value-added tax.
On the Ionian island of Zakynthos meanwhile, police detained the 45-year-old managing director of a local olive oil producing firm who is said to have an unpaid tax bill of 5.9 million euros.
Both suspects were to face a prosecutor.
