WWII grenades found in potato shipment from Germany
Two Second World War hand grenades were found in a shipment of potatoes from Germany due to be processed at a factory in Atalanti, north of Attica.
Army bomb disposal experts were called to the factory Friday to dispose of the rusty grenades, which were inactive. Workers at the factory discovered the first grenade when they heard a strange noise from the machine that washes the potatoes. The second was discovered soon after.
Fthiotida police are investigating how the grenades ended up among the potatoes.
