Cretan link found to Health Ministry website attack
The hackers who gained access to the Health Ministry?s online prescription database last week were based in the notoriously lawless Cretan mountain village of Zoniana, Skai has learned.
According to the president of the Thessaloniki Medical Association, Thanassis Exadaktylos, the hackers uploaded around 1.5 million prescriptions and accessed the files of patients.
Doctors were unable to use the database after the hackers blocked the online service.
In November 2007, villagers ambushed a police convoy outside Zoniana, seriously injuring an officer and foiling a bid to crack crime gangs in the area.
There have been more botched police raids since.
