Police ordered to patrol tax offices

Police officers have been ordered to conduct round-the-clock patrols of tax offices in their areas, it emerged on Tuesday.

Police said the patrols were designed to deter criminals, although there have been several cases recently of irate taxpayers causing problems at such offices.

Police said that there were only four robberies at tax offices last year, compared to 18 the year before.
