Demolition another option for illegal home owners

The Council of State has ruled that owners of illegal homes will be able to avoid all fines for the properties if they agree to have the structures knocked down.

The country?s highest administrative court ruled that the homeowners will not face any penalties if they volunteer their properties for demolition themselves.

A scheme was launched last year for owners of illegally built homes to declare their properties and pay a fine in installments in order to protect them from further action for the next 40 years.
