Conscript in apparent suicide during training
An armed offices conscript who had been participating in Hawk missile training at a military base in Aegaleo, western Athens, on Wednesday evening suffered a fatal wound inflicted by his own service rifle, defense officials said on Thursday without determining whether the incident was suicide or accidental.
The 20-year-old, identified only as I. M., had been with a fellow soldier at the time of the shooting, officials said.
An investigation has been called into the exact circumstances of the incident.
