Samaras: Return to drachma would be catastrophic
Antonis Samaras, the head of Greece?s New Democracy party, said a return to the drachma would have ?catastrophic consequences? for the Hellenic Republic and the euro-area as a whole, Bild Zeitung reported on Saturday.
Samaras is favored by some to become Greece?s next Prime Minister after Sunday’s elections.
He said his country will repay bailout loans and adhere to the principles and goals of the political programs agreed as part of the rescue deal, the German newspaper cited the conservative leader as saying.
