Man attacked in Athens, armed raids in Kalamata

A homeowner in Aghios Dimitrios, southeastern Athens, was recovering on Monday after being attacked by an intruder wielding a screwdriver, police said. The man was handcuffed during the raid but not hurt.

Several armed raids were reported elsewhere, including on a cheese pie factory and a sportswear store.

In Kalamata, in the Peloponnese, two men smashed the facade of a bank using sledgehammers, threatened the cashiers with assault rifles and fled with 90,000 euros.
