Democratic Left stands behind SYRIZA
Democratic Left chief Fotis Kouvelis has said that he will support second-placed Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) in an anti-memorandum coalition government.
The veteran leftist met with the 38-year-old leader of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, who has championed renegotiating the terms of the Greece’s agreement with its creditors and putting a full stop to austerity measures until a new growth plan can be formulated.
“I told Mr. Tsipras that he has the potential to proceed with a government of the left with the support of Democratic Left,» Kouvelis said.
