Five men test HIV+ after unprotected sex with prostitutes

Five men who had unprotected sex with HIV positive prostitutes in Athens have tested positive for the virus, Health Minister Andreas Loverdos announced on Wednesday.

The men were among 100 people who underwent HIV tests at the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO).

Meanwhile 31 prostitutes working in Athens have so far tested positive for the virus since late April, when it became compulsory for sex workers to supply blood for testing.

According to KEELPNO, more than 6,000 people have contacted the center?s hotline since the testing campaign began, while private health facilities have been reportedly conducting an increased number of HIV tests in the last two weeks as well.
