Bystander injured during armed robber in Ilioupoli
One person was injured as bank robbers opened fire as they fled a hold-up in Ilioupoli, southeastern Athens, on Wednesday.
The two robbers, armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles, held up the National Bank branch but the motorcycle they intended to make their getaway on would not start.
Instead, they attempted to stop passing cars so they could use one to flee. A taxi driver who refused to get out of his vehicle was shot. The robbers managed to hijack a woman?s car to make a getaway after firing at police who had arrived in the area.
