Floods struck Larissa and Lamia

The central Greek cities of Larissa and Lamia suffered on Saturday from the torrential rain that resulted in flooded streets, houses and stores.

Local authorities also reported power failures owing to the stormy conditions.

Traffic along the Athens-to-Lamia national road was interrupted for some time from the 200th to the 210th kilometer, just outside the city of Lamia, with hundreds of cars trapped, but without any serious problems.

At Larissa the fire service received more than 150 calls for flooded basements, according to reports.
