Gang used 81-year-old to withdraw cash from dead people’s accounts

Police say they have tracked down a 10-member gang in Athens that withdrew almost 75,000 euros from the bank accounts of customers who had died.

According to officers, a 36-year-old bank employee would give other gang members the details of depositors who had passed away so they could forge identification papers that would allow them to withdraw money from the deceased?s accounts.

The gang employed an 81-year-old woman to make the withdrawals, which totalled 74,500. It was not clear how many gang members were arrested.
