Union warns of spiraling unemployment
The Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE), the umbrella union representing private sector workers, warned on Friday that unless measures are taken to boost the job market soon, the number of unemployed Greeks will swell to 1.5 million by the end of the year from around 1.12 million now.
GSEE was responding to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority on Thursday, putting unemployment at 22.6 percent for the first quarter of 2012, or 42.14 percent above that of same period last year.
