Another 36 illegal migrants repatriated

The Deportation Department of the Aliens? Bureau on Sunday reported the successful repatriation of 36 migrants who were being held for processing at the migrant detention center in Amygdaleza, northwest of Athens, after being arrested for failing to produce proper documentation.

They are among thousands who have filed requests to be returned to their countries of origin amid rising joblessness in crisis-hit Greece and a recent spike in violence against foreign nationals by ultra-right groups. Of the 36 migrants repatriated, 21 headed back to Albania, seven to China, three to Algeria and one each to Armenia, Bulgaria, Iraq, Romania and Turkey.
