Firefighters battle blazes in Ileia and Messinia
Firefighters were battling large fires in Ileia and Messinia, both in the Peloponnese, on Friday amid scorching temperatures.
At least 20 firemen, manning 10 engines, struggled to contain two fires in the areas of Graika and Lambeti, both in Ileia, with the aid of two water-dropping aircraft and a helicopter.
Meanwhile another 20 firemen were fighting a blaze on forestland in the area of Agnanti, also aided by water-dropping aircraft.
There were no reports of injuries or damage to homes.
