Rhodes court writes off civil servant’s debt

A justice of the peace court on Rhodes on Monday ordered that some 320,000 euros owed by a 45-year-old civil servant be written off.

The court ruled that the unnamed woman should pay 121,200 of the 442,596 euros she owed to nine banks through her mortgage and credit cards.

The civil servant appealed to the court after her wage was cut and she could not cover the cost of sending her child to university in another part of the country.
