Farmer threatens suicide after livestock mauled

A livestock farmer in Kastoria, northern Greece, who threatened to jump from a local authority building in despair after a bear savaged several of his turkeys and a sheep was said to have calmed down after members of local wildlife protection groups took charge of the animal, local reports said on Monday.

The female bear, which had reportedly swum across across Lake Kastoria several times to feast on the farmer?s livestock, has been tagged and is being observed by members of NGOs Arcturos and Callisto.
