Halandri homeowner held at gunpoint by burglars

Three hooded intruders broke into a house in Halandri, a northeastern suburb of Athens, early on Wednesday morning and threatened the owner, with the use of knives and guns, into handing over cash, jewelry and other valuables, police said.

The home owner was not injured in the raid, according to police who were seeking the perpetrators based on a description given by the victim.

The frequency of burglaries and robberies, particularly in affluent suburbs of the capital, has increased in recent months.
