Photojournalist sues police over beating

A photojournalist who was injured by police while covering an anti-austerity protest in Syntagma Square in April submitted a lawsuit to the Athens prosecutor?s office on Wednesday.

Marios Lolos, the president of the Greek Photojournalists? Union, sustained serious head injuries after being repeatedly beaten with batons, according to witnesses. He had been covering clashes between rioters and police during a rally sparked by a pensioner?s suicide.

Since the incident, Lolos has lost the sense of touch in his left hand and now has to take medication for epilepsy.

He filed a suit against the moral instigator of the incident as well as the unidentified officer that attacked him.
