Stamati appeal rebuffed
The judicial council Tuesday rebuffed an appeal by Viki Stamati, the wife of former Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos — who are both in pretrial custody for money laundering — to be allowed to undergo a medical checkup.
Stamati has appealed several times for her release from the capital?s high-security Korydallos Prison since her detention in April but her requests have been turned down.
Last month, Tsochatzopoulos described his wife?s detention as ?unfair and inhuman? after she asked to be freed so that she could be reunited with her 5-year-old son.
