Spyros Louis cup to go on view

The silver cup given to marathon winner Spyros Louis at the first Modern Olympic Games, held in Athens in 1896, is going on display at the Acropolis Museum in September.

The cup, purchased by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for 541,250 pounds ($860,000) at a Christie?s auction in London last April, will go on display at the Athens museum for a year.
