Sea mines blown up in Athens suburb of Varkiza

Two old sea mines have been blown up in the Athens seafront district of Varkiza, authorities said on Sunday.

The explosives were discovered by a morning bather about 100 meters from the shore, where the water is 2.5-meters deep.

A team of military underwater explosive experts were called in. They attached explosives to the mines and conducted a controlled explosion.
