Regional airport security concerns after gov’t fails to pay firm

There are concerns about whether some of Greece?s regional airports will have security guards over the next few weeks due to the government?s failure to pay the private firm responsible for providing personnel at Thessaloniki, Iraklio, Corfu, Hania, Rhodes and Kos.

Kathimerini understands that the firm has yet to be paid for the services it provided in May and June, which amounts to close to 2 million euros.

Sources at the Development Ministry, which is responsible for the matter, said that payment was delayed due to the two recent national elections and that the bill will be settled soon.
