Greek Embassy in Damascus closes
The Greek Embassy in the capital of Syria, which has been rocked by several months of violent conflict between pro- and anti-government forces, announced on Thursday that it will be suspending operations.
A statement from the embassy cited the breakdown in security as the cause of the embassy’s closure, adding that honorary consulates will continue to operate in the cities of Aleppo, Latakia and Tartus in order to provide assistance to Greek citizens in Syria.
