Two candidates in June 17 elections claim seats swiped
A New Democracy candidate who failed to get elected in the June 17 elections has lodged a complaint with the electoral court, which if successful would lead to the conservatives gaining a seat at the expense of the far-right Golden Dawn party.
Such a development would also lead to the coalition government having 180, rather than 179, seats.
The complaint was lodged on Friday by would-be Messinia MP Miltiadis Chrysomallis, who claims the electoral law was applied incorrectly and he should have been awarded the Peloponnesian constituency?s seat rather than Golden Dawn?s Dimitris Koukoutsis.
Meanwhile, a similar complaint was launched by a Golden Dawn candidate in Laconia, also part of the Peloponnese, where he claims he should have won a seat instead of a New Democracy hopeful.
