Civil servants still top corruption chart, report finds

The annual report by the General Inspector for Public Administration, Leandros Rakintzis, to be made public on Tuesday, shows that civil servants still top the chart for corruption in Greece, Skai understands.

The report for 2011 contains a list of infractions, most of which relate to violation of duty, under-the-table payments and unjustifiable source of assets declarations (known as «pothen esches”).

Speaking to Skai ahead of the official publication of the report, Rakintzis asked to be restored with the right to monitor disciplinary offenses that he was deprived of by a law passed in March.
