Domestic animals
Have you had any ideas about a program to protect other animals? We are looking at two plans. One is for the community to create a farm for raising different kinds of deer at Nymphaio, near Florina. We have some reservations, however, because we don’t want it to develop into a tourist attraction and it isn’t in line with the philosophy of Arcturus. What would be preferable would be to start up a breeding farm for rare Greek animals which are becoming extinct. For example, there is the Pindus pony, the small, «all-weather» Pindus cow, which has delicious meat, and three or four kinds of goats. These are domestic animals which are disappearing because they are not as productive as some other breeds. Yet they are unique animals with special characteristics that cannot be found anywhere else and their loss would be a terrible thing for the Greek countryside.
