Prolific armed robber caught near Piraeus

A 42-year-old man believed to have carried out 72 armed robberies — on banks, super markets and public services — before using the cash to set up a transport company in Bulgaria, was to face a prosecutor on Thursday following his arrest in Kaminia, near Piraeus, on Wednesday.

According to police, the suspect has pulled off 41 bank raids, 24 supermarket robberies and 10 holdups of public service offices over the past 10 years.

The suspect was caught on Wednesday after an armed raid on a supermarket in Kaminia.
