Police seek robbers after fatal raid on Paros bank

Police on Saturday were continuing their search for the four perpetrators behind an armed raid on a bank on Paros on Friday that led to the fatal injury of a 53-year-old taxi driver, searching as far afield as Naxos and other islands in the central and southern Aegean.

A helicopter was helping ground forces scour the islands for signs of the four robbers who are believed to be behind another bank raid on Spetses in July which netted half a million euros.

Police have been studying footage from surveillance cameras located inside and outside the branch of Alpha Bank on Paros.

According to sources, the robber who shot the taxi driver three times, hitting him in the face and stomach, resembles the gunman who fired 10 warning shots into the air before the Spetses robbery last month.

Anyone with information is asked to telephone police on 210.641.1111.
