Man arrested on charges of abusing 9-year-old girl
A 63-year-old man from Kavala, northeastern Greece, was remanded in custody on Friday on suspicion of sexually abusing the 9-year-old granddaughter of his Bulgarian wife.
Police said the child approached them with the help of her aunt and accused the unnamed man of having molested her since the age of 6.
The girl lives in Bulgaria but often visits her grandmother in the area of Lydia, near Kavala, police said.
The girl underwent a forensic examination, which showed signs of long-term abuse, according to authorities.
The 63-year-old was arrested on Thursday.
