Armed robber escapes guards

A convicted armed robber who had been serving his sentence in Nafplio jail escaped on Monday after two armed men threatened his guards outside Nafplio Hospital.

The 40-year-old had been taken to the hospital to have the bandages on an injury changed. As four guards escorted him back to a van to leave, the two armed men fired into the air and forced the guards to hand over the convict at gunpoint.

Witnesses said they then drove off in an Audi.
