Theofilou sentenced for resisting arrest in first hearing

Tasos Theofilou, the 30-year-old accused of taking part in a fatal armed bank robbery on Paros earlier this month, was found guilty on Wednesday of resisting arrest on Saturday but innocent of giving false details to police.

Theofilou received a 15-month sentence that was suspended for three years.

He is due to give evidence today in relation to the Paros robbery, in which a taxi driver was shot while trying to stop the perpetrators of a bank heist.

His lawyer is challenging the way Theofilou?s DNA was matched with that recovered from a cap found at the scene of the robbery in the town of Naoussa.

Theofilou also claims that he is an anarchist but not a member of the urban guerrilla group Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire.
