Athens, London to discuss Parthenon Marbles fragments

Fragments of ancient Greek statues at the British Museum in London could be reunited with the original works following a proposal by Dimitris Pandermalis (photo), director of the Acropolis Museum in Athens.

Speaking to Skai Radio on Thursday, Pandermalis said an arrangement to return fragments that were part of the bodies of Parthenon Marble sculptures had been accepted in principle by British Museum officials, while a meeting to discuss the issue had been scheduled for the fall.

The British Museum has repeatedly rejected the return of the Parthenon Marbles.
