The results of this year?s entrance exams for students aiming to secure a place at the country?s universities and colleges are to be made public on Monday.

Some 110,000 candidates are fighting it out for 76,094 positions.

The impact of the economic crisis on household budgets has influenced the choices of aspiring students with a majority opting for colleges or universities close to home in order to avoid accommodation and travel costs.

Kathimerini understands that there has been a significant reduction in students opting for courses traditionally leading to a job in the state sector, such as teaching studies.
