Blazes continue testing firefighters
Firefighters were battling a large blaze in the area of Sychenon, north of Patra, on Friday, while a large forest fire in Neo Voutza, eastern Attica, which had been burning since Thursday, was earlier brought under partial control.
Meanwhile, a 58-year-old foreign national received a suspended two-year jail sentence for arson after being arrested for burning wires to extract copper in the area of Koutsounari in Ierapetra, Crete.
