EOPYY doctors extend go-slow action

Doctors working with the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY) said on Thursday that they would continue with go-slow action launched at the beginning of this month to protest their non-payment by the organization through September 19.

In a statement, the union representing the doctors made it clear that they were not fully convinced by the assurances of Alternate Health Minister Marios Salmas that they would be paid their dues in a timely fashion. Although Salmas’ pledges are encouraging «they do not clarify which amounts are being referred to, which months they relate to and which categories of debts,» the statement said.

The medics demanded a new meeting with Salmas, saying that they would suspend their action if they receive satisfactory answers to their queries.

Pharmacists, who are also protesting nonpayment of dues by EOPYY, have suspended the supply of medicines on credit to people insured with the organization.
