Search launched in Hania area for missing Norwegian tourist
Authorities on Crete are searching for 62-year-old Norwegian tourist who went missing south of Hania on Sunday night.
According to police, he set off on foot from the area of Sougia on Sunday lunchtime with the aim of reaching Palaiochora. He had failed to arrive by the evening, when his wife alerted authorities.
About 40 people are taking part in the search operation for the unnamed tourist, who does not have a mobile phone with him.
Local officials said this is the ninth time authorities have searched for missing tourists in the mountains around Hania this year. Last year, there were 36 such incidents.
