Ministry dimisses $600 bln fund as ‘joke’
The Finance Ministry has dismissed as a ?joke? a group calling itself the END Foundation, which claims to have $600 billion in US Treasury bonds deposited in a Canadian bank that it is willing to give to Greece to pay off its national debt.
The ministry said it has not been contacted by the group, whose representative Emmanouil Lambrakis held a news conference in Athens earlier this week.
?At a time when the Greek people are continuing to make bloody sacrifices to exit the crisis, it would be advisable for various gold diggers to at least show a modicum of seriousness,? the ministry said.
Greek consulate officials in Canada say they have no knowledge of the foundation, which has yet to provide any proof of its alleged fortune.
