Farmers’ co-op chief arrested for debts of over 2 mln euros

A former president of the Farmers’ Cooperative of Makrochori in the Imathia region of Central Macedonia was arrested on Tuesday over debts in excess of 2 million euros.

According to police reports, the co-op had accrued a total of 2,006,648 euros in arrears to the state in the period between 1983 and 2010.

The 54-year-old president of the co-op during that period will appear before a prosecutor on Friday.
