Traffic disrupted by rain, strike

Roads were flooded, and traffic was thrown out of gear as heavy rain lashed the streets of the capital on Thursday morning.

Problems were exacerbated by a strike of public transport workers as the Athens metro, the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP) and the tram halted services.

Union employees are protesting the government’s fresh batch of austerity measures and structural reforms.
