Police arrest suspects in rash northern suburb break-ins

Police have arrested three men suspected of being part of a gang that broke into homes in the northern suburbs of Athens over the last few months.

Officers said on Saturday that three Albanian men, aged 22, 24 and 30, had been arrested in Kallithea, southern Athens, and that a fourth, aged 31, was being sought.

Police believe the gang carried out 14 robberies and break-ins in Pendeli, Halandri and Vrilissia recently.

In some cases they had used knives and guns to threaten homeowners.

The break-ins usually occurred early in the morning.
