Trash collections resume in Thessaloniki after 10-day strike
Trash collections resumed in Thessaloniki on Monday, 10 days after sanitation workers started a strike in the northern city.
The municipality said that it would take two to three days to clear up the garbage that had piled up during the protest. The rubbish will collected from the city’s main streets first, before trucks move to Thessaloniki’s neighborhoods.
Local authority workers in Thessaloniki are due to hold a four-hour work stoppage on Wednesday and are due to protest outside the court where three colleagues arrested for throwing water and coffee at the German consul will be tried.
