Three siblings die after roof collapses in fire

Three siblings aged 5, 9 and 15 died on Saturday after the roof of their grandparents’ two-floor home collapsed during a fire in Mesoropi in the municipality of Paggaio in Kavala, northern Greece.

According to the local fire department, the fire started from a wood heater on the ground floor where the siblings’ parents and grandparents were sleeping, before spreading to the first floor where the three boys were sleeping with two of their sisters and another brother.

The latter were evacuated before the roof collapsed.
