Syrian ambassador, two diplomats expelled
Syria’s ambassador to Athens and two more diplomats have been expelled, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
The move came hours after Washington recognized the leading Syrian opposition as the legitimate representative of the Arab country’s people.
“We hope logic will at last prevail among the warring sides in Syria and that the friendly country will return to normality,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that the Athens embassy will offer only limited consular services.
Greece shut down its embassy in Damascus in July.
