Lavrentiadis files bail request

Businessman Lavrentis Lavrentiadis on Tuesday cited ill health as he filed a request with the special magistrate probing his case file asking to be released on bail.

Lavrentiadis, who owned a controlling stake in Proton Bank, was remanded in custody at Korydallos Prison on Monday as the charges against him showed that he is being accused of being a member of an “organized team” that knowingly plundered the lender’s funds in order to finance his own companies.

Following a warrant for his arrest, the businessman had been initially transferred to hospital for treatment over the weekend.
