Gov’t offers Skaramangas Shipyard submarine lifeline

The Defense Ministry has written to Abu Dhabi Mar, the company that owns Skaramanga Shipyards, west of Athens, to say that the government is prepared to release up to 7 million euros in funding for the maintenance of Hellenic Navy submarines as long as the firm guarantees that this money will be used for the payment of employees and other costs relating to the shipyard and not other purposes.

Kathimerini understands that the ministry believes money could secure the operation of the shipyard for more than two months.
