Assailant, victim arrested after apparent racist attack in Nikaia
After being assaulted on a bus in southern Athens on Friday, a Pakistani man was arrested by police, who also took into custody his assailant.
According to fellow passengers, the attacker was wearing a T-shirt bearing the symbol of far-right party Golden Dawn.
Eyewitnesses said the man approached the immigrant and asked him to get off at the next stop, in Nikaia.
At that point, other passengers intervened and the driver called the police but the assailant still managed to punch the immigrant worker.
Officers from the motorcycle-riding DIAS squad were waiting at the next stop to arrest both men.
