Municipality of Iraklio starts food drive for poor families

The Municipality of Iraklio on Crete began distributing some 12 tons of basic foodstuffs to families living in mountainous parts of the region who are facing economic hardship on Thursday.

According to Iraklio Mayor Yiannis Kourakis, 2,420 families will benefit from the food drive, while another 1,700 households will receive assistance from a scheme launched by the municipality for a super market chain to offer food to the needy.
