Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire suspect freed pending trial

A 29-year-old man arrested last week on suspicion of membership of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire guerrilla group as well as possession of army rifles and other weapons was granted conditional release pending trial by an investigative magistrate on Monday. He was also banned from leaving the country.

The man’s DNA was found on weapons discovered last November that had been buried in the grounds of a complex housing university students in Zografou, eastern Athens.

A 25-year-old woman, believed to be a friend of the 29-year-old’s, was also detained on Friday, also on suspicion of membership of the guerrilla group.
